The star has handed over the full amount of his £25k honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to preserve the Britain's small music venues.

Fender was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his new release his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the vital role small stages had in his early career.

"I wouldn't be doing my current career if it wasn't for all the shows I played around the area, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these spaces have shut down – about 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Recently, top acts including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its initiatives to support the industry, by applying a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help local stages.

Fender also joined in, generating over £100k on his recent tour to assist 38 local spots across the UK.

These funds assisted venues that were facing possible closure due to difficulties stemming from flooding, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Other venues were granted monetary aid in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted musicians and audiences.

"The idea that money from performances in major spaces helps the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has stated.

Fender is not the first artist to give his honor funds to worthy causes.

Back when Pulp received the trophy in the year 1996 for their album the album, lead singer the singer declared that the group would contribute their winnings to the charity the charity.

In 2002, musician Ms Dynamite shared her award between several charities, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I contributed a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

Previously, the band donated their prize money to the youth organization that nurtured their group, in addition to other local music groups.

Also the 1994 recipients M People gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the illness.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," said vocalist the singer. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't require the extra, because we had the honor. So our victory impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the trust shared it had saved a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by transferring them to local control.

The first in Southampton and The Croft in that location were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is backed by Arts Council England and supporters who acquire "shares" in the properties.
